Glasvegas Singer Found Safe After Five-Day Disappearance

Glasvegas frontman James Allan has been found safe and well in New York after going missing ahead of the Mercury Music Prize announcement on Tuesday night.

"We did a festival in Italy and came back and the last I've seen of him was at the airport," guitarist Rab Allan, the singer's cousin, told NME.com ahead of the awards in London. "I got told today he's ill. Missing in action? Yeah something like that."

But manager Dean Cunning told the Independent on Wednesday: "James is not missing, he's in New York. He got in touch with me yesterday at about 1.45pm to tell me he was OK because he knew people were worried, but to be honest I've been just as much in the dark about this as anybody -- the last time I saw James was at the gig in Cardiff [supporting U2 at the Millennium Stadium on August 22]. I don't even know exactly when he went missing."

He said the singer had got in touch after realising people were concerned for his welfare. The band are due to support Kings of Leon on tour in the U.S. this month.

Earlier, bassist bassist Paul Donoghue told Scotland's Daily Record. "I hope James will get in touch soon because now we are flying to America. I'm hoping that if we don't see him at the airport, we will see him in Boston."

Rab Allan also told the paper: "We don't think he's in Glasgow. Our manager is in Glasgow and he hasn't heard from him. We thought he would turn up at the Mercury Prize at the last minute. I miss him. The message is: James please get in touch."

When Spinner spoke to James Allan at Reading Festival little more than two weeks ago, the singer seemed to be relishing the chance to play support to Kings of Leon.

Soon enough these pablum-pukers will be stripped of their wealth when capitalism is flushed down the toilet in favor of Pelosi / Reed / Obama socialism (far-left liberal redistrubution of wealth). Enjoy these mewelers crashing their toys into oil-tankers while you can because there Obama will do away with oil and tankers with ca-'n-trade along with the spoiled wankers that crash into them.

Wow - another cranky, bitter Republitard. Paul, that is.

I don't like this singer, either, but this has nothing to do with him being liberal.

wasn't there a governor from down south that didn't tell anyone where he was going. Then called in and said he was hiking on the Appalachian trail to clear his head. Then it was discovered by the FBI that he was clearing his head in Argentina (or at least south america). So give the guy a break if he wanted space.

Crackhead. Tell the band to get another lead singer. This guy probably has a few years of rehabs to go thru.

Glasvegas !Really good band Kind of like a retro sound. He writes his own songs. Hope he has the sense not to be on drugs. Drugs just rob your life. You do not know it till the end when you decide to wake up and look back. Then its to late you are brainless and broke thanks to the coke!!

Do I smell "publicity stunt", or is it just me?

Well, maybe the band's 15 minutes of fame will be over soon & he won't have to worry about coping with fame.
