It seems that 44 years of hurt haven't stopped England's football fans from dreaming of World Cup glory once again as they gear up for the 2010 World Cup in South Africa. Nor has it stopped comedians Frank Skinner, David Baddiel (pictured) and the Lightning Seeds' Ian Broudie who are teaming up once again to offer a fresh and up to date version of the classic anthem, 'Three Lions.'A source close to the trio told the Sun, "Ian's just landed a new management deal and the first project they are working on is dusting down 'Three Lions' for the new Millennium.
"Frank and David are well up for revisiting their past glory and all three are busy coming up with new lyrical ideas for the verses.
"The trademark elements will remain, like the chorus and the opening lines, but the rest of the content will be updated to reflect the current squad and the current situation."
The single was originally written as the official song of the England football team for the Euro '96 tournament and spent two weeks at number one. It has re-charted with subsequent Word Cups in 1998, 2002 and 2006.
The English Football Association have yet to confirm whether the single will be adopted as the official anthem.
