Jimi Hendrix, 'Valleys of Neptune' -- Song Premiere

Jimi HendrixThough there have been many posthumous releases from Jimi Hendrix's archives since his tragic death, the recently-announced 'Valleys of Neptune' isn't meant to be a "lost" album. Rather, it's a look at the creative period in Hendrix's life between the 1968 release of 'Electric Ladyland' and his legendary appearance at Woodstock the following summer.

"In the aftermath of 'Electric Ladyland,' he made a series of recordings with the original Experience," co-producer, author and Experience Hendrix catalog director John McDermott tells Spinner. "When they effectively stopped working as a three-man recording unit, he brought in [bassist] Billy Cox -- this album captures that transition. We don't want to over-dramatize it. This is that missing period of time."

The dozen tracks on 'Valleys of Neptune' reflect a time where Hendrix, finding his way with a new band while fighting contractual problems, was blossoming creatively. Featuring reworked hits like 'Fire' and 'Red House' as well as fully-realized songs that have never officially been released, the album shows that Hendrix was embarking in a new direction, one that would later be heard on 'Band of Gypsys.' While the album is due out on March 9, check out Spinner's exclusive premiere of the title track below to hear what McDermott refers to as a "snapshot" into a part of Jimi's life that's rarely been heard.

    Unbelievable!
Thanks for digging up this prime nugget. Sound quality is up there with Crash Landing.

Yeah Bob, I have monitored this song from the day that Jimi died. It always had been one of my favorites .The sound quality is amazing as you can hear and Jimi,s presence is here with us more that ever. Jimi was never able to complete the song properly and was brutally murdered by a company called sony BMI on september 18th in London.
However one can slaughter a humans body but you can never break a humans soul.
I stood waiting for Jimi that day and offered him my flesh to be able to live on and continue his mission on Earth, actually we already had an agreement on 22 januari 1969 when I saw his two concerts at the age of 18.
Please listen to the COMPLETE VERSION of Valleys, because Sony's version is just an artificially created ruin to trick the world with their reptilian tongue.
They try to suck all the blood out of your veins (calling it money making, business or caring for quality) and they did this since their carefully planned/executed slaughter.
Do not misunderstand me, I am not accusing anyone, although I feel that SONY BMI should be punished by humanity. Knowing the future besides the past I can tell you that they are very afraid of humanity and we have to learn to love them although they are ugly and have no feelings.
Obsessed with numbers and dates they have chosen to "honor" the great LEGEND in the year 2010 and this release is no coincidence, they celebrate that almost anyone on the planet has forgotten the true story of Jimi and Monika.

Please listen to the complete version:

Oh yes, about two weeks ago having control over YouTube as well they : "sony BMI" removed 3 live version which I produced for the world to see, for free...
    Love & Peace

Wonderful....really awesome , the only thing i had to say is about the mastering , they cleaned too much the sound , you can feel that it's been mastered in a 2010 studio and not in a 1968 studio...
    But still amazing

I agree but what ever. It's still great to hear this. I missed Hendrix by about 40 years so to get new material by him is just amazing. I'm buying the album on vinyl the day it comes out!

How do songs like this get lost? This isn't some half baked attempt, this is pure Jimi Hendrix.

This has been in the collectors' circles for years, but in varying degrees of completion. Some are just instrumentals, some partial vocal takes. I think what Eddie Kramer was able to do here is take all of those and create a finished song, an idea I had envisioned years ago. Now we can all hear it as perhaps the way Jimi would have finished it.

I will just say that this is not a "lost" song as I have heard it before... It's just not a song that was ever released on a big LP and heralded as a "single"

Good tune. Strange that it's a completely different song from the 'Valleys Of Neptune' released on Hear My Music.
