Richard Edwards Margot & the Nuclear So and SosMargot and the Nuclear So and So's frontman Richard Edwards hasn't had much down time since the release of his band's 2008 sophomore album, 'Animal!' After what he refers to as "the miserable experience of traveling around the country promoting 'Animal!,' our doomed second album," the Indianapolis-based musician relocated to Chicago to begin working on the So and So's' third LP, which features standout tracks 'New York City Hotel Blues' and 'Birds.' "We wanted to make a record that was more frantic and more in line with our musical roots," Edwards tells Spinner.

With a new lineup of musicians in tow, the brand new Margot and the Nuclear So and So's are all set to release their new album 'Buzzard' in early Fall of 2010. "We saw it as a rowdy pop record. Overtly catchy, hopefully, with a rough around the edges, slightly drunken basement feel," according to Edwards. On 'New York City Hotel Blues' and 'Birds,' listeners can get a taste of his new musical vision for the group. "Gone are the strings and horns and excess. This record is just red meat. And that makes me very happy."

Both songs are available for free download after the jump, exclusively on Spinner.

This may be 'red meat', but I love the "strings and horns and excess." Either way, Margot can do no wrong... as long as they don't lose Emily Watkins. Period.

they already lost her. she was my favorite too, but obviously not a large enough part of the group to survive the jettison.

The girl who sang on some of the animal songs (Mariel comes to mind) sings on this one.

She recorded on a couple of songs before she left the band. But NO she is not with the band anymore.

Emily Watkins is a wonderful musician and without her is much bad, but while there is Richard, all well..
