Al Jarreau Feeling Better, Hopes to Resume Touring This Week

After collapsing last week before a show in France, singer Al Jarreau's condition has improved according to the Associated Press. The 70-year-old was in critical condition after suffering respiratory problems last Thursday.

Jarreau was initially treated in a hospital in the French Alps town of Gap, but was moved Saturday to Marseilles after the altitude affected his breathing, as WENN reports. The Marseille Hospital Authority said the singer is doing well and he'll remain the hospital for monitoring over the next several days.

"Mr. Jarreau hopes to resume his tour at the end of the coming week," the Grammy winner's reps said in a statement. "Meanwhile, he has been quietly serenading the hospital staff to stay on point."

The sudden illness forced Jarreau to cancel several concerts in Germany and Azerbaijan, but a show scheduled for Thursday, July 29 in Nurnberg, Germany is tentatively still going ahead as planned.
